summer light watch - BIG

Hi there, haven't been writing much on here, but if you follow me on tumblr or twitter or instragram, then you probably is aware of the fact that I am currently in Taiwan and has been taking a temporary break from the kpop world. This is my third week living with my grandma (just us). One of the things we have in common is that we both are K-drama watchers. During our spare time (which is like, four hours a day), we watch dramas. So despite the fact that this blog is called "Kpoping", I guess now I will be reviewing some k-drama stuff that I am currently into. To be honest I am never really a fan of the typical k-drama format/plot whether is the two girls two boys relationships or the oh-so evil mother in laws, the same kind of old shits are over-used so much to a point where it's too easy to predict what's going to happen next. But this summer "BIG" starring Gong Yoo and Lee Min jung really got me addicted. Have to admit that Gong Yoo's character in Coffee Prince didn't really got me the chill. I thought he was an average, good looking, well maintain guy but he just wasn't my type. Gong Yoo's character in Big, however, attracted me in the most practical way. He is just such a husband material. A doctor, attracted, caring, and super down to earth (the Yoon-jae after the car accident). I did my research (googling) and found out more about him.

According to many reliable resources, this is the first work of him after he came back from the army. Well, must say he was trained pretty good. The muscles he built on himself : Simply gorgeous. Check that body out ALL THE TIME. Enough fangirling about him. The drama is "good" due to various reasons, one of them being that there are very complete developments of each character in terms of internal growth. (*WARNING: spoiler alert)

Gong yoo's character, for example, after switching souls with the 18 years old, turned into boy who is supposedly more childish and immature). But after a year to America "recovering" from the side effects of the car accident, Yoon-jae's character transformed into a more mature and unique individual that's different from the uptight Dr. yoon-jae. There's some really good acting because technically there are three personalities that the actor needs to demonstrate to the viewers, and I definitely give credits to Gong-yoo for doing such an amazing job for keeping the three distinctive and easily identify as the drama goes on. He really keeps it cool in the most casual way a Korean actor can possibly do.

Now on to Lee min jun's part. Honestly really like her character in this drama. Her role is the typical kind of leading girl who gets scolded for the most ridiculous things ever. But somehow the way she portrayed her doesn't make me feel slightest of cliche sympathy for her character at all. She is some how strong in a feminine way that makes her really tough and likable. For me it's all about girls-power and although she doesn't fully represent that in the drama, I still sense the vibe from her and can totally bear with her throughout even the crying scenes.

And there is of course, Suzy's character. I am only going to say that her character is my least favorite in the drama. And let's just leave it to that for now.

Personally having a really good feeling about this drama. It is currently airing right now and it's almost half way through. My six sense is telling me that it will not disappoint. With Gong yoo's acting and his amazing chemistry with Lee min-jung, I am pretty sure it will have a great ending. This drama really kind of reminds of "Protect the boss", the drama yet to be finished. It is casual, funny, and really easy to watch. Anyways, definitely expecting another review/post about the final episode on this blog, I sure will vent my heart away!

calm down.

Haven't been into Kpop that much lately (hence the lack of continuity for posting in this blog). The topic in the corner in my opinion is definitely SM's new found love group EXO. Whether K or M, both seemed to be doing wonderful job in both the Chinese and Korean markets. SM Entertainment is really known for the good looks of the artists/idols they produced, and when these boys start coming out one by one, my little fragile heart started to shattered into pieces (well, I mean the boys are fineeeeeeee.....) and the next thing you know is my daily consumption of anything EXO related on tumblr and such. I mean, where do they find these people?! I guess SM do really have the magic power to turn some random boy on the street of Seoul into a hot "the-boy-next-door". Since there are 12 of them (more options, right?), fans around the world can pick their favorites. I personally think that all of them are very good looking young men and I generally love gorgeous people, but THIS particualr guy caught my attention when I was browsing over some teaser photos:

I was like, "heyyyyyyyy there."  O/////O b
(This is the right time be let out my inner reserved little asian fan girl side)
Something about this member just gives me the butterflies in the stomach (cliche, i know, but that was literally what it felt like). So I did a little googling, and found out more about him.

Name: Lay
  Sub-Group: EXO-M
Nationality: Chinese (kinda a surprise there)
Training period: 3 years
Function in the group: dance
Symbol/sign: unicorn (SCORE!)

I then made up my mind that he will be my bias of EXO-M (this whole K and M thing is kind of confusing. Since they are technically separated, does it mean that I can have more than two biases from each group?). Anyways, let's not get into that topic for now. Back to Lay, personally love how Lay is really just the lay back figure of the group. He is not Kris who gets all these attention due to his leadership and foreign languages (and of course the good looks). He is not Lu-Han who is known for pretty much the cutesy-ass face. He doesn't get hype the two korean members in the group do. And he doesn't practice kiss-ass martial art shit like Tao does. He just chill and be there and that's what I like about him. He can remained quiet, talked when it's his turn, and occasionally showed off some dance moves when he got cued. I just LOOOVVVVEEEEE his role in the group! And yet then there is the little creation of FANtasy going on in the fandom known as "Krispy Lays" (gotta give some credit to whoever came up with this, it's really clever actually) which makes me giggle like a 11 years old. Not to mention later when I found out he's the "unicorn" of the group (supposedly symbolic of peace, quietness, and the ability to heal) I literally declared that I'm going to dedicated my next few months (summer possibly included) to his guy. I have a strange obsession with unicorns and everything about him just makes perfect sense to me. SM did a good job or shall I say Lay did a good job if he ever picked it to be his "symbol" in the first place.

Did I mention that EXO's fans are called "Exotics"? like how dopeee is that?! I wanna be "exotic"! As a side note, the rookie groups during recent years all have fairly interesting fan club names such as Infinite's Inspirit (I guess it makes sense), BAP's baby (totally convenient when they are on stage calling their fans), TeenTop's Andromeda (wah?), Boyfriend's bestfriend (well, yeah....) and BTOB's Melodies (go.....figure). Sometimes I just had to sit back to my chair, and stare in the wall for a good five minutes to let my amazment and awe at people's creativity sink in. Having creative fan club names is nothing new in the world of kpop (ex. ELF, blackjack, KissMe, Shawols, STAR1, Bea2ty to just name a few) but sometimes they just blows my mind like, HOW? Really?! really. I love kpop.

WTF.

I promise this is going to be my last MV review of the day, but seriously though, major brain-fart kpop moment of the day definitely has to go to EXO-K's MAMA music video. I didn't watch any teaser for it because I was just so impatient with the bazillion teasers SM released I gave up on number twelve. So then finally I was like, "alright let's give this single a try." AND OMG THE INTRO, killin' me.
That thingy does not make any freakin' sense. All I got all of it was, there was a tree and the twelve guys have super powers.....cool? SM I get it, it's a "new" idea that kpop idols can have some fictional supernatural powers and they have their own "signs/logos" so there is some extra cool factor, but whyyyyyyy? SO RANDOM. like where did you even come up with the idea?! But fine, I digressed simply due to the K-boys lookin' hella fine in their music video. And just right about when I was going to sit back and enjoy the rest of the video, the lines start poppin up and I cringed big times.
"careless, careless, shoot anonymous, anonymous...." WTF. I literally went "nfrjwhtugfjkgdlnufdkgnwerjekf......"
the engrish, HELL NO SM Entertainment and its english usage, oh my, headache.
Not to mention they didn't even pronounce "anonymous" right.
Same thing goes to EXO-M, the m-boys look hot too, but dear lord someone please tell President Yang to hire some english speakers who are fluent in the English department. I cannot stand this nonsense anymore. UGH.

But thank goodness the boys are sooooo good-looking, so I guess that helped.
ok I'm done.

XOXO, J.

lime.

Talkin' about hair, although I was a little taken aback by the vibrant hair colors kpop idols tend to have these days, I found this Lime girl's hair extremely fresh and stands out from the sea of colorful hair kpop artists. It is surely a pastel minty color, almost to a point white, which I truly dig. Beside the name is "lime", I mean, come one, that's like a free giveaway.

Dear Kpop, if you want to dye hair, please consider pastel colors just because it is so IN this season, and also platinum blond is seriously out of date (2009 G-Dragon style hello?) so please, please PLEASE just let it go.

Thank YOU.

Yours truely, J

da hair.

watched myself some good bad ass rookie B.A.P empowerment music video 3a.m. in the morning. Actually don't know their names but this kid (i know for a fact hes the youngest - like 15yrs old or somethin') got himself some real swag. Especially the hair. For once the stylists did them right. Washed-out baby pink hair suits him just perfect. Except the next time he made an appearance the hair color suddenly changed, i don't even wanna know what happened there. But nevertheless he looks hot (for his age, of course).

oh and am I the only one who thinks the rabbit head is kinda creepy in a good way? like it's all modern but I wonder if an additional secret member is hidden under that large, glowing thingy......hummmm.

any thoughts or guesses?
